18-wheeler overturns spilling cargo
On June 30, 2009, an 18-wheeler flatbed overturned in Middletown. The accident occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m. as the driver of teh truck was rounding a curve. According to authorities, the load was not properly secured causing the truck to pitch sideways when the load shifted. The truck was transporting steel coils which were ultimately dumped out onto the roadway. The driver of the truck was not severely injured.

A devastating 18-wheeler accident in Miami Oklahoma claims the lives of Texans Randall Scott Hayes, Ethan Hayes, and Cynthia Olson
A horrendous trucking accident claims the lives of 38-year-old Randall Scott Hayes, his 7-year-old son, and his 55-year-old mother-in-law Cynthia Olson. The 18-wheeler accident occurred as The Hayes family was traveling on I-44 in Miami, Oklahoma en route to a funeral. According to authorities, the driver of an 18-wheeler who was possibly traveling as fast 75 mph failed to brake for cars stopped by a traffic jam causing his tractor trailer to crash into nine cars. The Hayes family vehicle was amongst the cars struck. 35-year-old Shelby Hayes was the only occupant of the car to survive. Six other people were killed in the accident as well.

22-year-old Joshua Stacy lost his life in an 18-wheeler accident
In late June, 2009, 22-year-old Joshua Stacy was killed in an accident involving an 18-wheeler. The tragic accident occurred as the young man was traveling on Highway 174 in Hill County, TX when his truck veered into the northbound lanes and struck an 18-wheeler head-on. 52-year-old Marilyn Coleman killed in an 18-wheeler accident
On June 25, 2009, 52-year-old Marilyn Coleman of Mesquite, TX was killed in an 18-wheeler accident. The tragic accident occurred as Coleman was parked on the shoulder of I-35 in Carrollton along with another vehicle. Authorities say that Coleman's vehicle and the other car on the shoulder were both struck by an 18-wheeler. The accident inflicted catastrophic injuries on Mrs. Coleman. She was transported to Parkland Hospital by helicopter where she later died. The 18-wheeler crashed into a retaining wall and burned to the ground. The driver of the 18-wheeler was also transported to Parkland Hospital, having suffered burns on 80% of his body.

One person killed in trucking accident on U.S. 290 in Houston
On June 24, 2009, an 18-wheeler accident claimed the life of a Houston resident. The accident occurred at approximately 3:00 a.m. on the frontage road of the Northwest Freeway almost to Windfern. The details of the accident are sketchy at best, but it is known that the driver of a passenger car died at the scene. Police are still investigating.

A truck driver lost his life in an accident in South Carolina
On June 20, 2009, a 70-year-old truck driver lost his life in an 18-wheeler accident. The single-vehicle accident occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. as the truck ran off of the interstate and struck a row of trees. The truck burst into flames, killing the driver. The driver has remained unidentified, but authorities have stated that the driver is from Stone Mountain, GA.

47-year-old Teresa Parham lost her life in an accident involving an 18-wheeler
On June 22, 2009, 47-year-old Teresa Parham was killed in a tragic accident involving an 18-wheeler. The truck accident occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. as Parham's vehicle left the roadway. It is believed that the car veered onto the shoulder where rough pavement forced the car into a slide across the grass median and into oncoming traffic. An 18-wheeler struck Parnham's car on the driver's side. Sadly, Parham died as a result of her injuries. The driver of the truck was not seriously injured.

18-year-old man killed when 18-wheeler makes an illegal U-turn
On May 18, 2009, an 18-wheeler accident claimed the life of an 18-year-old man from Turlock, CA. The fatal trucking accident occurred as the Costco 18-wheeler driver made an illegal U-turn on Highway 152 which caused a Dodge Charger to drive under the trailer, cutting he roof of the car off. An 18-year-old male passenger in the car was killed instantly in the accident. An 18-year-old passenger from Hughson, and the 19-year-old female driver from Ceres were flown to Regional Medical Center in San Jose for treatment of serious injuries. Two other passengers in the Charger were treated at the scene and later taken to a Hospital in San Jose. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not severely injured. Authorities are investigating the accident, and have not filed any charges as of yet.

An 18-wheeler collided with a train in Leighton, AL
On June 17, 2009, an 18-wheeler crashed into a freight train in Leighton, AL. The trucking accident occurred as the truck's driver, 63-year-old William Hare, approached a private rail crossing of off Highway 20 in Colbert County, AL. The details of the accident are sketchy, but it is believed that the truck was sitting at the rail crossing as the train was passing by, and the truck lurched forward into the side of the train. The collision destroyed the front end of the truck and caused the train to spill several hundred gallons of diesel fuel onto the tracks. The driver of the truck was taken to a local hospital and was later released.

A firey accident claims the life of a truck driver in California
On June 13, 2009, and 18-wheeler crashed into a railing on the 91-E transition road to 710-N causing the truck's fuel tank to rupture and explode. The fire quickly consumed the entire truck sending black smoke into the air that was visible for miles. The truck was burned so badly that only the metal frame rails and axles remained. The truck's driver died in the fire.

A dumptruck accident occurred in Columbia South Carolina
On June 13, 2009 a dump truck caused an accident with several other large vehicles. The accident occurred just before 5:00 a.m. as the dump truck struck an overpass on I-26 in Columbia, SC. The collision caused the dump body to be forced off of the truck and into the path of a camper and an 18-wheeler. The camper struck the dump body and the 18-wheeler overturned, spilling its cargo, in an attempt to avoid the camper. There is no word yet on injuries.

A Dallas Count Sheriff's Department deputy rear-ended by tow truck
On June 12, 2009, a Dallas County Sheriff's Department deputy was injured an accident with a two truck. The accident occurred in the morning hours as a two truck arrived on the scene of an earlier accident. The driver of the tow truck failed to stop in time and rear-ended the deputy's squad car. The deputy was transported for a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The driver of the two truck was not injured in the accident.

69-year-old Patricia Whitaker killed in accident with 18-wheeler
On June 9, 2009, 69-year-old Patricia Whitaker was killed in an 18-wheeler accident. The accident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. on N.C. 226 near U.S. 74 in Shelby, N.C. An 18-wheeler accident in Houston, Texas crushes two cars
On June 10, 2009, an 18-wheeler accident occurred in Houston, Texas. The accident occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. as the driver of the 18-wheeler allegedly lost control and flipped the truck and trailer over on highway 288 near Holly Hall. Two passenger cars were smashed in the accident. One of the smashed cars was pushed from the tractor trailer while the other was wedged underneath it. Rescue workers extracted the injured victims shortly after arriving on the scene. The condition of the drivers or passengers in either car is not yet known.

Three severely injured in accident between pickup truck and 18-wheeler
On June 9, 2009 three people were seriously injured in an accident involving an 18-wheeler. The accident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. on eastbound Loop 1604 North at Graytown Road as the driver of a pickup truck and two children were rear-ended by another pickup truck. The force of the collision sent the truck into oncoming traffic, into the path of the 18-wheeler. The driver and the two children, ages 13 and 8, were all transported to University Hospital by helicopter. The driver of the truck that allegedly rear-ended the other suffered non life-threatening injuries.

A dump truck crashes through a home in Flanklin, TN
On June 6, 2009, a dump truck crashed through the front of a house in Franklin, TN. The accident occurred in the evening hours as the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle. The home belonged to Earl and Edna Hensel, who were fortunate enough to be away at the time of the accident. Neighbors scrambled to free the driver who was partially trapped in the debris, and was noticeably shaken up. The driver cited a mechanical failure as the cause of the accident. fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident.

Texas State Troppers are randomly inspecting 18-wheelers in a programs dubbed "Road Check 2009"
The Texas Department of Public Safety has launched a 3-day initiative called "Roadcheck 2009" for the purpose of inspecting 18-wheelers passing through various checkpoints in the State of Texas. Texas State Troopers are flagging down 18-wheeler for the purpose of inspecting vital safety features, such as the braking systems, as well as checking the drivers for intoxicants. Authorities expect the inspections to take approximately 40 minutes to complete. Similar efforts took place last year which resulting in discovering some 25% of the trucks pulled over as having severe enough safety concerns that the trucks were pulled out of service.

Tom Tarzian injured in an 18-wheeler accident in Tennessee
On June 1, 2009, Tom Tarzian was injured in an accident involving and 18-wheeler. The trucking accident occurred approximately 20 miles north of Nashville, TN as Tarzian, an executive in the television industry, was struck from behind by an 18-wheeler when he slowed his car to avoid a colission with some animals which had wondered onto the roadway. he suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs amongt other injuries. Rescue workers transported Mr. Tarzian from the scene to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

An 18-wheeler rear ends a car in Huntsville, Texas
On May 3, 2009 a trucking accident occurred in Huntsville, Texas. The 18-wheeler accident occurred in the afternoon hours at the intersection of SH75 and Park Road 40, just south of Huntsville, as a passenger car stopped to make a left turn onto Park Road 40. The 18-wheeler was unable to stop in time and collided with the car. The truck jackknifed and rolled over into a nearby ditch. The unidentified driver of the car was transported to Huntsville Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Truck driver James R. Cogburn dies when his tractor truck crashed into Lake Chicot
On May 30, 2009, 50-year-old James R. Cogburn of Mountain Pine, Arkansas died when his truck crashed into Lake Chicot. The trucking accident occurred early in the morning as Cogburn's vehicle left the roadway on Highway 82 and crashed into the lake. The truck was submerged in about 9 feet of water, approximately 40 feet from the shore.

18-Wheeler rear-ends car in Houston Accident
On May 30, 2009 an accident involving an 18-wheeler occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. Authorities were at the scene of a fatal single vehicle accident on Katy Freeway in Houston, TX., when an on looker allegedly flipped their SUV while trying to observe the scene of the first accident. The SUV that overturned caused several vehicles to slam on their brakes, including a passenger car and an 18-wheeler. The passenger car managed to avoid hitting the wrecked SUV, but the 18-wheeler rear-ended the passenger car.
