Pedestrian severely injured in hit and run accident with 18-wheeler in Augusta GA

On July 14, 2008 a pedestrian was severely injured when a tire from a passing 18-wheeler became detached from the vehicle and struck the pedestrian. The accident occurred in Augusta, GA on the west bound lane of Bobby Jones Expressway just after the Laney-Walker Boulevard ramp.

The driver of the 18-wheeler did not stop although it is believed that he was aware that accident occurred.

The unidentified pedestrian was taken to a local hospital where his is listed in critical condition.
