Austin man falls to his death following an 18-wheeler accident

On June 8, 2008 a man fell to his death following an 18-wheeler accident on I-35 and the Ben White overpass in Austin, TX. The victim who, was only identified as a man who was driving a white pickup truck, rear ended an 18-wheeler resulting in the passenger side of his truck coming to rest against the guardrail. Beyond the guardrail was a drop of some 30 plus feet. Rescuers attempted to pull the man from the vehicle via the driver side window but the man, likely in a confused state as a result of bodily injury, backed away from the rescuers and exited through the passenger side window. Upon exiting the vehicle the man fell to the median below where he died.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
