18-wheeler bursts into flames on I-10 in Houston

On May 5, 2008 at approximately 1:00 AM an 18-wheeler traveling on I-10 through Houston crashed into a concrete pillar and burst into flames. The explosion engulfed the cab of the 18-wheeler and caused the driver of the 18-wheeler to sustain severe burns over 80% of his body. The driver was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

It took approximately seven hours for all of the wreckage to be cleared from the roadway.
