Robert Lee Michael, alledgedly high on meth, fell from moving truck cab while on phone
On the morning of Monday, February 1st, 2010, 39-year-old truck driver Robert Lee Michael Jr's tractor trailer crashed into seven parked cars while Michael watched from the road. Moments earlier, according to police, Mr. Michael fell out of the cab as the semi was traveling at about 35 mph. He was allegedly high on methamphetamine at the time, talking on his mobile phone, and not wearing his seat belt. As Bob Michael fell from his cab, he jerked the wheel to the right. The truck veered off of the road, and struck seven vehicles parked at the adjacent Park & Ride lot.
If the details of the story are true, this man obviously should have never been on the road. We are all fortunate that no one was killed by his grossly negligent actions that morning. This incident shows people that you always need to drive defensively when traveling near an 18-wheeler. An accident with an 18-wheeler will be exponentially worse than a similar speed accident with a passenger vehicle. If you are ever hurt in an accident with a semi-truck driver, it may have been caused by driver negligence as well. The best way to recover compensation for your injuries, and make sure these accidents do not go unpunished is to discuss your case with a personal injury truck attorney. An attorney will fight for everything that you deserve!
