Julie Stratton killed after rear-ended by 18-wheeler who's driver was watching porn, police said
An Ohio man was arrested today, charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of Julie Stratton, 33. Truck driver Thomas Wallace, 45, ran into the back of a disabled car on the New York State Thruway last month, killing Stratton, a mother of two. Police say Wallace was watching pornographic movies on his laptop computer while driving. They say he also violated federal rules by sleeping no more than 4 of 27 hours before the crash.
Sometimes, cases like these are unavoidable accidents. Other times, they are directly attributed to driver negligence. For a person's death to be considered a wrongful death, the victim must have died as a direct result of the careless, negligent, wrongful, or reckless act of a person, company, or municipality. If you have lost a loved one in an 18-wheeler accident due to the negligence of a semi-truck driver, you may be able to recover monetary compensation for your loss. Your next step should be to speak with a trucking accident wrongful death attorney. An attorney will work for you, and will give you the best possible chance at a successful recovery.
