One man is hospitalized following a collision between a Dodge Stratus and an 18-wheeler in Plainview, Texas. The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. January 21st, 2010, when the man in the Stratus exited Interstate-27 (I-27). The driver of the semi-trailer was headed north on the service road, and failed to yield right of way to the car. The vehicles collided, and the man's car flipped and landed oin it's roof. The victim was rushed to Covenant Hospital Plainview by ambulance.
If you are ever injured in an accident with a semi-truck, the first thing you should do is contact a personal injury truck accident attorney. Collisions with 18-wheelers almost always cause more damage than passenger car accidents, due to their enormous mass. Because of this tremendous possible liability for the insurance company, the insurance adjusters will use many clever tactics to attempt to either reduce their liability, or deny your claim all-together. For instance, semi-truckers are subject to federal regulations set by the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration. This creates a gray area between state and federal laws that defense attorneys can easily navigate, depending on how it suits them. An experienced Texas truck accident injury attorney can make sure your claim is not denied due to simple technicalities.
