Driver Franklin Sweeney injured after being struck by 18-wheeler semi
65-year-old Franklin Sweeney of Kittanning, Pennsylvania was injured in an auto accident on Friday January 15th, 2010, when a tractor trailer failed to stop at a traffic light and struck the driver's side of his pickup truck at the intersection of Route 85 and Route 66/28 in Rayburn, PA. The tractor trailer, driven by 27-year-old Craig Bender of Butler, then collided with three other vehicles, but thankfully, no more injuries were reported. Mr. Sweeney was taken to Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburgh by emergency helicopter for undisclosed injuries.
As you can imagine, accidents involving 18-wheelers generally cause more severe damage and injuries than passenger car accidents. Because of this, it should be no surprise that semi-truck insurance policies are generally worth about 50 times that of the average passenger vehicle. If you are injured in an accident with an 18-wheeler, DO NOT approach it the same way as an accident with a passenger vehicle. Trucking insurance companies tend to hire the most aggressive insurance adjusters they can find. You can not trust the adjuster; his/her job is to save the insurance company money by paying you less! To get what you truly deserve for your injuries, you need to speak with a personal injury attorney. You need someone to help you fight for the compensation for all of your damages!
