2-year-old and 4-year-old injured in Houston accident with 18-wheeler
According to Houston police, an 18-wheeler collided with 3 vehicles on 290, injuring 2 children. At about 6:20 a.m., a vehicle stopped behind a stalled car on 290 near Magnum Road. A pick-up truck also stopped beside the stalled car. That's when an 18-wheeler struck the vehicles from behind. The injured children were taken to the hospital for treatment, and the driver of the 18-wheeler was cited for failure to control speed.
It is our responsibility as drivers to drive safely and defensively as to not put other motorists at harm. This responsibility is even greater for semi-truck drivers, as their vehicles can cause massive damage and harm. Because 18-wheelers have the potential for so much damage, trucker insurance policies are worth far more than passenger vehicle policies. In fact, they average about 50 times higher. With this much money on the line, insurance companies will employ a variety of tactics to save themselves money. They may offer you an extremely inadequate settlement or try to wrongly deny your claim entirely. If you are injured in an accident with a tractor-trailer, seek the advice of a personal injury attorney before you do anything. An attorney will stick up for you, and fight to get you the compensation you deserve.
