A tragic truck accident claimed the life of 4-year-old Luca Moya near Goliad, Texas
In early November of 2009, 4-year-old Luca Moya of Beeville was killed in a tragic truck accident outside of Goliad, TX. The fatal accident occurred as the young child was traveling with his mother on U.S. Highway 59 when an 18-wheeler struck the side of the their vehicle. The child died at the scene and his mother, Emika Moya, was transported to an area hospital before being flown to Corpus Christi for treatment of serious injuries.
In my line of work I have seen too many accidents like this one. In most instances, the family members are disappointed to know that criminal charges are not brought against the truck driver, as these types of incidents rarely are criminal in nature. The civil court system does, however, provide families with a means of seeking justice. While many people feel that filing a lawsuit is about money, it really goes beyond that. In many of the Texas truck accident cases that my firm has won, we make the focus of the settlement more about changes in protocol and rules for the trucking company. This is because most families want to know that the purpose of their wrongful death lawsuit will go beyond monetary terms and that it will go so far as to make the roads safer for others. Naturally, these types of lawsuits can have significant value but most families are really more concerned with achieving justice, peace of mind, and closure. In any event, an experienced Texas truck accident attorney will work to ensure that the families true intentions are met. I wish the best for the victims of this accident. This is truly a tragedy.
