Edgar Smith IV, Kimberly Smith, Edgar Smith V, and Emily Smith killed in tragic 18-wheeler accident

On June 23, 2009, 37-year-old Edgar Smith, his wife 40-year-old Kimberly Smith, and their two children 15-year-old Edgar Smith V and 12-year-old Emily Smith were killed in a tragic trucking accident in Magee, Mississippi. The accident occurred as the driver of the 18-wheeler allegedly fell asleep and crashed into the family's van as it sat at a stoplight on U.S. 49. The tractor-trailer pushed the van into an intersection and then ran over it causing the van to roll several times and eject some of the passengers. Everyone in the van died at the scene. Authorities are still trying to determine if they are going to press charges against the driver of the truck.

I think this is an absolute tragic accident. And yes the driver of the 18 wheeler should be charged with the death of this family. Regardless of how many miles you drive for the money, it is still the responsibility of the driver to protect himself and the people on the roadway while he is driving. He will live with this for the rest of his life but he needs many many years of jail time. That family will be missed by many people.
