50-year-old Jimmy Carol Nichols was killed in an 18-wheeler accident

On February 17, 2009 50-year-old truck driver Jimmy Carol Nichols was killed in an 18-wheeler accident. The trucking accident occurred late in the evening on U.S. 79 near the Robertson-Leon county line. Nichols, a resident of Palestine, TX, was traveling southbound when another 18-wheeler allegedly lost control and veered into his truck resulting in a massive accident. A tremendous fire broke out and both drivers died at the scene. Authorities are trying to determine the specific cause of the accident.
