4 People Injured in Wreck along Interstate 20 in Sweetwater, Texas
According to the Abilene Reporter-News, 4 people were injured in an accident involving a Lincoln car and an 18-wheeler in Sweetwater, Texas. The wreck occurred around 1:45 p.m. Sunday, February 19 when the driver of the Lincoln may have attempted to pass an 18-wheeler but lost control and struck a concrete barrier and then another passenger vehicle. Texas DPS troopers are looking into the possibility that the truck clipped the vehicle and that possible tire failure occurred. One victim was flown to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, while the other 3 unidentified victims were taken to Sweetwater Hospital.
Commentary
Tire failure or a truck clipping the side of the vehicle are both possibilities that need to be adequately expounded upon. While the DPS reports may look into the latter, it is rare that they dive into product liability causes to an accident. This would require an investigatory team to examine the vehicle in question and the wear-and-tear on the tire. It is possible for both a truck driver and manufacturer to share fault in an accident.
