Man Injured in Collision with 18-Wheeler in Waco, Texas
According to KWTX, a man was injured in an accident with an 18-wheeler
in Waco, Texas. The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. Thursday, January
19 when the man's vehicle was struck on Valley Mills Drive on the
driver side by a tractor trailer attempting to turn onto the roadway.
The unidentified driver was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center
where his condition was unknown. A passenger in the vehicle and the
driver of the 18-wheeler were uninjured.
Commentary Until
more details are released regarding the accident, it would be
speculatory in nature to discuss potential remedies from the accident. I
can say that depending on the man's injuries and who is the owner of
the rig, attorneys for the trucking company may already be developing
ways to reduce or deny an injury claim. This is accomplished a
number of ways, but one of the most common is by insurance adjusters or
attorneys gathering their own evidence. The hope is that they will find
information which would mitigate liability on their client's behalf.
Another tactic we will often hear about is a quick, undervalued
settlement offered to victims or their survivors when actual liability
is found on behalf of the truck driver. You can be assured that this
amount will not reflect the actual value of a commercial vehicle
accident and will also preclude any future action against the trucking
company.
