One Person Killed in 18-Wheeler Accident in Vernon, Connecticut

According to the Vernon Patch, one person was killed in an accident with an 18-wheeler in Vernon, Connecticut. The collision occurred around 5:20 a.m. Thursday, January 12 near the Vernon/Tolland line on Interstate 84. The driver of the passenger vehicle was pinned in the vehicle and was extricated before being pronounced deceased. The accident is still under investigation.

Commentary
Absolutely no details have been provided regarding a cause to the accident, so it would be speculatory in nature to discuss potential outcomes from the accident. Because commercial vehicle accidents are difficult to unravel, a third party investigation should be used for liability purposes. In the case of a fatal accident, it is imperative that a thorough determination be made, for survivors to receive just compensation.
Rather than discuss civil outcomes, I'd like to mention that, depending on the owner of the rig, defense attorneys and adjusters may already be conducting their own investigation. The goal of this is to limit or negate liability on their end, which can have a huge effect on a company's bottom line. Unfortunately, manipulation of the bottom line is often more important to a trucking company than adequately compensating a victim or their survivors.
