Commentary The potential causes and ramifications of this accident run the gamut, so let me start by saying I hope the young man fully recovers from the accident. Because the details of a commercial vehicle accident are typically already murky, a third party should inspect the accident scene and both vehicles to make a concrete liability determination. Rather than speculate about a cause or effect of the accident, I would just like to note that the investigation would be tasked with tracing the young driver's actions prior to the accident. Was he drowsy because of the early morning or were there other reasons? The latter could introduce a third party into a liability assessment, given the proper circumstances. In other words, serious accidents that result in injury require the eyes of a third party for fault determinations, irrespective of a story's one-sided appearance.
