Commentary Because of the nature and magnitude of the accident, it is imperative that an examination of the scene take place. Due to the ramifications of a fatal car accident involving several types of vehicles, including commercial vehicles, a determination of liability may take quite some time to ascertain. Furthermore, as cleanup on the interstate begins, evidence needed to obtain proper compensation from the accident could be destroyed, making a quick response necessary. It should be noted that because commercial vehicles are involved, the preciousness of evidence becomes even more important in a victim's case as 18-wheelers are backed by million-dollar, if not multi-million dollar insurance policies. This gives defense attorneys free reign to defend the bottom line of the trucking company, especially when fault may be associated with a member of their fleet.
