Lindsey Askew of Waverly killed in 18-wheeler accident

On August 17, 2008 a 5 vehicle 18-wheeler accident left several injured and claimed the life of Lindsey Askew. The accident occurred on I-85 near mile marker 71 at approximately 6:30 AM. Two other vehicles had gotten into a minor accident and traffic was backed up as a result. Many vehicles slowed due to the traffic but the driver of an 18-wheeler failed to slow his vehicle in time. The 18-wheeler slammed an SUV driven by Lindsey Askew, allegedly killing Askew instantly. Askew's vehicle was forced into several others leaving one other person severely injured.

A note from 18-wheeler accident attorney E. Michael Grossman:

The scenario surrounding this accident is one that plays out far too often. Many 18-wheeler drivers ignore the rules on order to arrive at their destination a little quicker than if they had followed the rules. This is an outrage and one that should not go unpunished. The law clearly states that you must follow far enough behind the vehicle in front of you that you can stop in time in order to avoid a collision. The fact that this 18-wheeler allegedly punched through Lindsey Askew's car and kept crashing into several others is a strong indication that the truck was not just going a little bit faster than it should or that it was just following a little too closely, no, it is very likely that this truck was moving at a high rate of speed relative to the other vehicles and it was doing so too closely.

Unfortunately, I have seen this accident scenario time and time again as my firm is one of the most common choices for the victims of 18-wheeler accidents. Having said that let me assert that it never gets easier. Every time you hear of a tragic story like this and see the way that lives are destroyed, it gets to you. I hope that the Lindsey Askew's family, as well as the other victims of this accident, choose to hire an experienced attorney to make this 18-wheeler company pay.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this accident and their families
.
