According to recent news reports from Jacksonville North Carolina 52-year-old Carl Anthony Gwynn of Jacksonville was killed on Monday April 18 in a work-related accident when he was struck and run over by a dump truck at the New River Air Station. Gwynn was a contractor working at that Marine Corps station. He died at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
When a fatal work accident occurs involving a commercial vehicle like a dump truck a number of issues may be looked into following the accident in order to determine whether or not negligent behavior may have played a role in the accident. For instance if a truck driver suffered from even a moment of distraction resulting in the tragic accident both the driver and their employer may bear civil liability for the accident. If the workers safety was put in jeopardy by their employer by a co-worker or by another entity on-site that person or entity may also bear liability for the consequences of the accident. More often than not fatal workplace accidents are the result of multiple instances of negligent behavior on the part of multiple parties. Consequently a third party investigation may be conducted that can look further into the incident so that all such liable parties can be identified and held accountable for their possible role in the tragic work accident.
