18-wheeler accidents that result in injury can sometimes have many different causes. For example, did a truck driver suffer from some type of distraction or drowsiness? Or did an issue outside of the truck driver's control contribute to this accident, such as a shifting cargo load, the negligent driving of another driver on the road, or a mechanical problem? Other issues can also contribute to commercial trucking accidents, and each probability may involve different liable parties. In many instances of trucking accidents, multiple parties may bear varying levels of liability for the same accident. Consequently, an independent investigation may be pursued so that the cause or causes of the wreck can be discovered and the liable parties held accountable for their actions.
